Bingo Paradise Rating

As you probably guessed from the name, Lottoland is a lottery site offering a plethora of lottery options. But unlike the official National Lottery site, your options are not limited to UK games and you’re not technically buying tickets. If you’re new to lottery sites, skip to the FAQ to get a rundown on how they work; if not, read on for our Lottoland review.

Lottoland

Welcome Bonus

There are a couple of different welcome bonuses available on Lottoland, It all depends on whether your focus is the lotteries or the casino.

On the casino side of things, players who deposit and stake £20 or more can get 100 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza. To qualify for the free spins you need to opt in, stake £20 on Big Bass Bonanza within 7 days. The free spins do not have any wagering requirements but any unused spins will  expire 30 days from the day they have been claimed.

New lottery bettors can get 3 bets for the price of 2 on Powerball, the biggest US lottery and one that has surpassed jackpots of $1 billion in the past.

A sportsbook welcome bonus is also available.

All of these promotions are subject to change, so check the links on this page to be directed to the latest offer, and make sure you read the T&Cs before confirming.

Lottery Games

Lottoland is not a ticket reseller. It doesn’t sell digital or physical lottery tickets and instead lets you bet on the outcome. The process of selecting numbers and waiting for the result is the same. You also stand to win a lot of money. In that sense, it’s no different. From the player’s perspective, the only real difference is the price, as you pay much more for a Lottoland “bet” than you would an official lottery ticket.

In the US, for instance, a Powerball ticket costs a couple of bucks. To play on Lottoland, you will be charged £10 for 2 lines. It’s a lot more, but unless you have the freedom to make regular trips to the US, it’s a moot point.

Some of the lotteries you can bet on here include Powerball, Irish Lotto, Mega Millions, and El Niño

One of my personal favourites is the Spanish Christmas Lottery, also known as “El Gordo” or “The Fat One”. Like Santa Claus, it only comes once a year, but it’s well worth it when it does arrive. It works a little differently from traditional lotteries, with players buying a piece of a ticket and then sharing the prizes. The great thing about this lottery is that the odds are very low when compared to other lotteries, particularly Powerball, which has staggeringly high odds in excess of 300 million to 1.

In addition to its lottery betting options, Lottoland also hosts an online casino with hundreds of popular games from the likes of NetEnt and Blueprint Gaming. There are jackpot slots, Drop & Wins, Megaways games, table games, and live dealer games. It’s surprisingly full considering it’s not the main focus. There’s a sportsbook too, although this is a little lacking and you won’t find anywhere near the number of bets you’ll find on sites like bet365, which is to be expected.

Banking Options

Lottoland doesn’t accept PayPal, but it does accept MuchBetter, and Paysafecard, and you can also deposit and withdraw using debit cards.

It’s secure and fast and while there might be a small delay, you should get your winnings shortly after the numbers have been declared. There’s a lot of information on the site concerning payout structures and even odds, so be sure to read all of this before you bet on any lotto lines.

Verdict: Lottoland Review

Lottery sites won’t appeal to everyone. Many people will be deterred by the high cost of betting lines. Sure, it’s probably the best option if you want to play lotteries like Mega Millions, but it’s still an expensive option.

Players who use these sites will be very happy with the Lottoland selection, helped by the addition of a sportsbook and online casino. The fact that you can choose from a variety of welcome bonuses is a nice touch, although none of them are really eye-opening and you’re not going to walk away with much more than a free lotto bet or a few dozen spins.

In summary, Lottoland is one of the best lottery sites out there, but whether it will be enough to win over casino players is a different matter.

Lottoland FAQ

  • Am I buying lottery tickets when I play Lottoland games?

No. You are placing bets on the outcome. Those bets are then settled by Lottoland. You will still get the money if you win, but there might be some caveats, including a 38% prize reduction on Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots to account for the reduced cash prize paid out to American players with physical tickets.

  • Is it legal to play these games?

Yes. Not only is it legal to play and win foreign lotteries—assuming you can get a ticket—but Lottoland is a licensed site offering official lottery betting services.

  • Can I buy official tickets elsewhere?

Most lotteries require you to purchase tickets from licensed vendors within the country where the lottery is hosted. It means you can’t buy a ticket for the Mega Millions from your local newsagents, but if you visit the US, you can walk into a store and pick one up. You can also claim the winnings if the numbers land in your favour, provided you’re still in the US. Sites like Lottoland skip the middleman and let you play these games without hopping on a transatlantic flight.

  • What is the best lottery?

It all comes down to personal preference. If you value jackpots, Powerball and Mega Millions are the best. If it’s all about odds, they are the worst, as the jackpot odds are staggering. In such cases, you may be better off with the Irish Lotto or even the Spanish Christmas Lottery (El Gordo).
