Change Of License for Dragonfish Powered, 888 Holdings Brands

If you’re a UK player who’s been around the houses a bit when it comes to bingo sites, there’s a fair chance that at some point you’ll have opened an account at an 888 Holdings Site such as Wink Bingo, Quality Bingo or Costa Bingo.
What’s happened?
Behind the scenes, there’s been a takeover… 888 Holdings has sold its bingo brands and the software used to power them (known as Dragonfish) to the Broadway Gaming Group, previously known for owning ProgressPlay sites such as Butlers Bingo.
The deal is reported to be worth a whopping $50 Million and sees the Broadway Gaming Group become a force to be reckoned with in the online bingo world.
Going forward, all the Dragonfish-powered 888 Holdings brands will be owned by Broadway Gaming. Interestingly though, they’ll be licensed for UK players by Grand Battery Holdings, a company incorporated in Ireland and licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, license number 58267.
Why does this matter?
In simple terms, when you first opened your player account, the terms and conditions which you read and accepted formed a contract between yourself and 888 Holdings, the operator at the time. Now the sale has been completed, those terms are between you and Grand Battery Holdings, the new operator.
Essentially, the change is a legal formality that has come about because one company has sold out to another, but in practical terms, it means that Grand Battery Holdings Limited are now:
-The Data Controller for your information.
-The sender of any brand-related communications that you will receive (if you’ve opted in through your account at any of the brands concerned).
-The holder of any funds you have with any of the sites concerned.
-The UK Gambling Commission license holder.

What’s a Dragonfish site?

Who owns 888Casino and 888 Ladies?
In a slightly confusing twist, 888 Ladies WAS included in the sale, but 888 Casino was NOT!
So 888 Casino continues to be owned by 888 Holdings, whilst 888 Ladies was transferred over to the Broadway Gaming Group and is now operated by Grand Battery Holdings.
