The Wink Slots iOS app claims to be the “UK’s number 1 home for live mobile slot games”. It’s a marketing claim that seems to be made by 90% of casino apps out there. They can’t all be telling the truth, but this casino’s claim has a certain air of legitimacy that others lack.
We’ve all seen the TV adverts and banner ads, and if you’re a keen slot player and bingo fan, there’s a good chance the name of this site will ring a bell. Furthermore, Wink Slots is backed by the mighty 888 Holdings, a corporation that has been instrumental in establishing and progressing the UK gambling sector.
After all, 888 has revenue of over half a billion and is listed on the FTSE 250. Not bad for a brand that began with a relatively obscure Caribbean-based online casino back in 1997.
In this Wink Slots review, I’ll put that claim to the test and see if this UK and Gibraltar-licensed casino is worthy of your time.
The Welcome Offer – Use Code ‘MAX’
The first part of the deal and the one which really grabs the headlines is the free spins no deposit element. After completing registration, players will be treated to 30 No Deposit Spins which will be made available as three separate vouchers, each containing 10 free spins, delivered over 3 days.
The spins will be available on, 99 Time, White Wizard Deluxe or Sugar Train.
After this, new players who wish to make a deposit can choose from three different deposit bonus amounts depending on the amount they wish to spend. The breakdown is as follows: Deposit £10, Get 150% bonus, Deposit £20, Get 200% bonus or Deposit £30, Get 220% bonus.
For the above offer, you’ll need to enter the code ‘MAX’.
Every day loyal Wink Slots members get free daily spins on the Starburst slot. You will qualify if you have deposited at least £20 in the last week and there is a 30x wagering requirement applied to all winnings.
The Daily Free Spin bonus is an ongoing promotion. It has no fixed end date and while it was active at the time of writing, it may not be active when you join. However, there are other ongoing promos, and these usually come and go quite frequently.
Another such promotion is Monday Madness. Use code “MONDAY” when you deposit between £20 and £34 to claim up to 28 spins, a 29% bonus, or an £8 games bonus.
Use the same code when depositing over £35 to get up to 50 Free Spins, a 40% bonus (capped at £100), or a £12 games bonus.
You can activate all bonuses under the “My Wink” section of your account. This section will also keep track of all active bonuses, loyalty rewards, and more.
Games and Software Providers
Unsurprisingly, slot machines are given the spotlight at Wink Slots and there aren’t many bingo games to choose from. The sister site, Wink Bingo, deals with all of that and this is definitely not the best place for bingo fans.
Still, there is no shortage of other top titles to explore and these are neatly arranged under the following categories:
- Slots and Jackpots
The games are provided by creators like NetEnt, Barcrest, IGT, Big Time Gaming, and Blueprint Gaming, and they include titles like Rick and Morty, Ted, Diamond Mine, and Rainbow Riches.
It’s an eclectic mix, but it includes many of the UK’s best-loved slots and you’ll find most of your favourites here.
Depositing and Withdrawing
According to the Terms and Conditions, Wink Slots accepts PayPal, Paysafecard, and Apple Pay, in addition to debit cards. These methods are supposed to be available for players based in the United Kingdom, but when I joined and put this to the test, I was only offered debit cards.
I’ve had this issue in the past and was told that PayPal is available but can only be used on second deposits and all additional deposits. It’s annoying, to say the least, because there is also a rule that states all withdrawals must be made through the same method used to deposit.
In other words, you’ll need to make your first deposit and subsequent withdrawal using Visa/Mastercard, and only then can you think about PayPal and other methods.
The minimum deposit amount is £10, but this may change depending on your preferred method. All withdrawals are processed within 2 days, so it may take 5 or more days to get your winnings via debit card.
Apple Pay is also listed as an option and should be offered to macOS and iOS users. However, as with PayPal, this is seemingly not available for first deposits or withdrawals. I used a Mac to sign up and deposit and was never prompted to use Apple Pay.
Wink Slots Review Summary
Maybe I caught it on a slow or busy day, but the Wink Slots website doesn’t move as quickly as I’d like or expect.
There were a few times when it took up to 5 seconds to load a page and several times when I was greeted with an “Uh oh, the page isn’t loading” error message from Wink Slots (in fact, despite multiple attempts over many hours, I was never able to access the “Shop” or “Promotions” page).
This issue aside, however, there’s a lot to like about this site. It has a good variety of games, some decent promotions, and it’s backed by the mighty 888.
The app is also very easy to use. I wouldn’t go as far as to say it was the best I have used, but I’m certainly not going to refute the site’s claim as I can see it scoring very highly with users.
- PayPal is Accepted
- Established Owner
- Wide Selection of Slots
- Some of the UK's Favourite Games
- Only Debit Cards for First Deposit
- Site Can be Slow and Buggy
