I have it on good authority that Voodoo Dreams is a historical fiction novel, by which I mean I googled it and that’s the first thing I saw. It’s also an online casino, and if those book reviews and bookshop links are anything to go by, it’s one that has a lot of work to do in the SEO department. But that’s not always a bad thing. I’ve reviewed casinos that top the rankings for the most generic keywords but look like they were built by teenagers using GeoCities circa-1995. They focus their efforts on marketing and ignore everything else. Voodoo Dreams doesn’t seem to be one of those sites, which makes for a refreshing change. It has a stylish neon aesthetic, more Tron-like than voodoo-like. It’s black, blue, and bold, and more importantly, it looks unlike any casino I’ve seen before. In an industry I’ve criticized for being too samey, that’s a fantastic start. The question is, where does Voodoo Dreams go from there? Welcome Offer

When you first join Voodoo Dreams, you can collect a Matched Deposit Bonus offering a 100% match up to £50. You will also be given 50 Free Spins on the Book of Dead slot machine. On the surface, it looks like a good bonus, but the terms detract from this a little. Firstly, the minimum deposit is fixed at £20, which is a little on the high side, though it shouldn’t be an issue for the average player. The same can’t be said for the wagering requirement, though. It is a massive 60x and applies to both the deposit and the bonus. To put that into perspective, many wagering requirements are fixed at 35x to 50x and only cover the bonus amount. The 60x creates a huge uphill struggle for those first-time depositors. To make matters worse, there is a maximum wager of £2 per slot/game when meeting these requirements and there is also a maximum bonus payout of £500.

XP, SP, and the Voodoo Dreams Loyalty Program

Although the Welcome Bonus is a little disappointing, the loyalty offers make up for this. As you deposit and play at Voodoo Dreams, you’ll collect two types of points: Experience Points and Spirit Points, also known as XP and SP. XP increases your level, and gives you access to new “spells”. These spells are more powerful, but they require a greater number of SP to cast. Spirit Points are earned in a similar way and allow you to cast those spells. If that all sounds rather confusing, it basically just means that the more you play, the more XP and SP you’ll earn, at which point you can unlock bigger and better rewards. It’s a top loyalty program, on par with the ones utilized by sites like PokerStars. The fact that it ties in with the casino’s theme is even better. Voodoo Dreams also includes something known as Duelz. You can Duel with other players to damage their Health Points, win the fight, and collect the rewards. It’s probably the first time I have seen something like this, so kudos to Voodoo Dreams for trying something unique!

Slots, Table Games, and Live Casino Games

Voodoo Dreams hosts games from the likes of NetEnt, Play’N GO, and Big Time Gaming, to name just a few. There is no shortage of jackpot slots and there are also some interesting categories to help you find what you’re looking for, including Feature Buy games and Megaways games. Live Casino games are in plenty supply and if you prefer a simpler and less immersive setup, there are virtual table games, as well. There is also a searchable category for Drop & Wins and Win Both Ways.

Depositing and Withdrawing

Most Voodoo Dreams bonuses require a minimum deposit of £20 and there are several popular payment options to choose from, including debit cards (MasterCard, Visa), and PayPal. Others are listed in the website’s footer, but many of these aren’t available for players in the United Kingdom. Withdrawals are fast and there are no fees. Voodoo Dreams also has an extensive responsible gambling program, including deposit limits, cooling-off periods, and more.

Voodoo Dreams Review Summary

If I had a pound for every time I criticised the lack of originality in the online gambling industry, I could probably give up writing and fund my own casino operation. But Voodoo Dreams is a casino that actually tries to be different, and yet it does so in a way that is still accessible and familiar. The use of loyalty points is unique. It can feel a little gimmicky, but at least it’s not dull and generic. The Duelz are also unique, and the casino itself has an original neon style. There are some issues here, including the ridiculously high wagering requirements on the Welcome Bonus, but all things considered, this is a 4/5 to 4.5/5 casino all the way. A few minor fixes and it could easily become a 5/5. [publishpress_authors_box layout="ppma_boxes_9936" user_id="4"]
