Not only is Star Wins owned by a newspaper, but at times it feels like it’s powered by one. The sign-up process was painfully slow, reminiscent of 1990s internet, when you could make a cup of tea between page loads. I always feel bad highlighting these issues, as they could be temporary. I did log in during peak hours, but this is not AOL circa 1995, so that shouldn’t matter. After clicking the “Join Now” button it took four seconds for the registration pop-up to appear (yes, I counted, and no, I had nothing better to do) and after clicking “Next Step” it was an additional 7 seconds before I saw the next screen. To make matters worse, there was no indication that the button-click had been received, so you either end up staring at the screen and wondering if it’s working or you start clicking madly and accidentally select everything on the following page. Incidentally, I did the latter, and it wasn’t pretty. The sign-up screen wasn’t the only issue, as the rest of the site was painfully slow. I had hoped that the issues would be fixed by the time I joined and began playing, but they seemed to get worse. If you’re the kind of player who gets frustrated when pages don’t load straight away, a demographically that definitely includes me, this might not be the site for you. Slots and Bingo Rooms
Slow or not—you can’t go wrong with Jumpman Gaming sites. The operator has some of the best software and games in the business and you know what you’re getting. Its “Hot Slots” section is a who’s-who of top developers and award-winning slots and you should find most of your favourites here, including Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest, and Immortal Romance. In my The Sun Vegas review I noted that I wasn’t a big fan of these slots and many other popular titles, and while Star Wins doesn’t meet all of my gaming needs, it does have some other slots I enjoy, including Rainbow Riches, Thunderstruck II, Wild Gambler, and Halloween Fortune. Like all the best casino sites, it also hosts the latest slots as soon as they are released. I was happy to see that most of the hottest titles released in the past month had found their way into the Star Wins games room. As far as bingo is concerned, options are a little more limited, but you still have a few rooms to choose from. There are rooms for 75-Ball, 80-Ball and 90-Ball. Friday seems to be the best day to play bingo here as there are two rooms specifically targeting this day and they both have big guaranteed pots.Depositing and Withdrawing
Star Wins accepts payments using debit cards, Paysafecard, PayPal, and Pay by Mobile. Unlike a few of the other sites I have covered, it doesn’t insist that you verify your information straight away but you will be asked to confirm your ID before you make your first withdrawal. Star Wins has a very long pending limit and this means that it will take at least 3 days for you to get your funds. There are also deposit limits in place, although the site doesn’t specify the exact amounts. If you hit these limits and want to deposit more, you’ll need to send an email to KeepItFun@JumpmanGaming.com along with your bank statement, recent payslip, and requested deposit limit. Or you can just go to another site, because let’s be honest, that’s what 100% of users will do in that situation. On the plus side, these limits seem to be pretty rare and you likely won’t hit them unless you’re depositing a lot of money! [caption id="attachment_967" align="aligncenter" width="614"]
This took a lot longer than it should have done[/caption]
Star Wins Review Summary
As strange as it is for a newspaper to have its own online gambling site, Star Wins is not alone in this. In fact, The Sun Bingo and Express Wins follow in much the same vein and are based on two of the UK’s best-selling newspapers. When you ignore the initial randomness, it actually makes sense. These brands have a huge readership and a direct line to the nation’s adult population. A typical gambling site needs to run its latest promotions through a host of affiliates, before spending a fortune on social media and search engine advertising. These newspaper-casinos can just add an insert or segment to their latest publication and they’re good to go. Of course, they don’t have the experience offered by brands like Ladbrokes, but they don’t need to, as the services are provided by third-party gambling companies like Jumpman Gaming. All things considered, it’s a pretty smart idea and one that has actually worked out well for Star Wins. The site is not going to become Britain’s biggest casino any time soon. Its gaming selection isn’t big enough to win over enough players and it is also too laggy, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for some big bonuses and a few quick gaming sessions. That’s true whether you’re a fan of the Daily Star or not. You might be supporting the tabloid by joining, but you don’t need to read its stories or buy its publications—it’s all about great slots and bonuses here.
