Slot Shack’s hut seems to be located on a tropical island and is overflowing with gold coins. It’s like the operators were torn between a Californian gold rush theme and a tropical island one, and in their indecision, they just threw the two together and called it a day. I have been very dismissive of casino themes in the past, with most of my distaste directed at Dino Bingo, but at least Slot Shack isn’t incomprehensible or an affront to art. Sure, the aesthetic is pretty amateur, but the copy is good, the promotional images and logo are fine, and once you get past the minor visual crimes, there’s a lot to like about Slot Shack. Pay by Mobile has become very popular in recent times and many UK players are using it to fund their accounts and enjoy slots on the go. I’ve criticised this method in the past, so I won’t get into it again here, but every time you make a transaction with this method you’ll be hit with a £2.50 transaction fee. If you’re lucky enough to win some funds and make a withdrawal, you’ll need to pay another £2.50 and add a separate payment method (the £2.50 withdrawal charge applies to all payment options). The theme doesn’t really stick and is really no more consistent or cohesive than Costa Bingo and other such sites, but what does that matter? As obsessed as the industry is with having a theme, even though it rarely extends beyond the name, logo, and a few throwaway comments from the copywriter, what really matters is that the site looks good, is easy to navigate, and has plenty of games. Slot Shack may not take you on an adventure or make you feel like you’re in a shack by the sea, but it definitely ticks all the other boxes and that’s the important thing.
