Lottoland

Lottoland

3/5Expert Review

A site where you bet on the outcome of the world's lotteries rather than entering them, with a slots casino attached to the side.

Lottoland is not a lottery, and understanding why is the whole point of using it. You are not buying an entry into a draw: you are placing a bet with a bookmaker on what the draw will produce. If your numbers come up, the company pays you rather than the lottery organiser, and it insures itself against the big wins to be able to do so.

That arrangement is legitimate, long-established and licensed. It also means the product is betting rather than lottery participation, so none of your stake goes to the good causes a national lottery funds. Whether that matters to you is a personal question, and it is one the site will not ask you.

It is operated by EU Lotto Ltd, company number 109514, registered at Suite A, Ocean Village Promenade, Ocean Village, Gibraltar, licensed in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission under account 38991.

Welcome Offer

The offer is on the casino side rather than the lottery side, and the site states it like this:

Significant Terms: 18+. Sign up, deposit and stake £20 on selected slots, and receive 100 free spins on Fishin' Frenzy Even Bigger Fish. 30 day free spins expiry.

It is refreshingly short, and the 30 day window on the spins is far more generous than the 3 or 7 days most offers allow. What the banner does not publish is the spin value, which is the figure that decides what 100 spins are actually worth, so check it on screen before committing the £20.

The £20 is a stake requirement rather than just a deposit, so the money has to go through the slots before the spins arrive. Note the minimum deposit on the site is lower, at £5, so you can hold an account here for far less than the offer requires.

No wagering multiplier appears on the banner. Read the full terms before assuming there is none.

Promotions

Promotions here split along the same line as the products. The lottery side runs special draws and jackpot events, and the casino side runs the sort of reload and free spin offers you would find anywhere.

The lottery events are the more interesting half, because they are tied to real draws around the world rather than to a marketing calendar. The site carries the big international draws and a few unusual ones.

My own favourite is the Spanish Christmas Lottery, El Gordo, which translates as The Fat One. Like Father Christmas it comes round once a year and is worth the wait. It works differently from most draws, with the prize fund spread across a huge number of tickets rather than concentrated in one life-changing pot, which makes winning something far more likely and winning everything impossible.

Games

The casino side is a conventional slots lobby with the studios you would expect, covering the standard reels, jackpot games and instant wins. It is competent and it is not why anyone comes here.

That is the honest summary of this site as a casino: a decent slots selection attached to a lottery-betting business, rather than a casino in its own right. If slots are your main interest there are better-stocked lobbies elsewhere, several of them reviewed on this site.

Where it is genuinely strong is breadth of draws. You can bet on lotteries from several continents in one account, including ones no British retailer offers, and the odds and prize structures are set out for each.

That last part is the real advantage of the betting model, and it is rarely pointed out. A lottery ticket tells you almost nothing about your chances; a bookmaker has to publish the odds it is offering. So you can see, draw by draw, exactly what you are being offered before you stake, which is more information than a newsagent will ever give you.

Depositing and Withdrawing

The minimum deposit is £5, which is lower than most and makes the site usable for very small stakes. Cards, PayPal and Apple Pay are the usual routes.

One structural point worth knowing: because the lottery products are bets rather than entries, winnings are paid by the operator out of its own funds and its insurance arrangements, not from a draw's prize pool. In practice that has worked for years. It is still a different arrangement from a state lottery and you should know which you are buying.

Customer Support

Support runs through a help centre with email and chat behind it. The help material is strongest on the lottery side, where it explains the betting structure, the insurance arrangements and how a win is paid, and thinner on the casino side, which reads like a standard template.

No support hours are published, so there is no telling from the outside whether anyone is there late at night.

The responsible gambling tools are the standard set, and the site is clear in its own documentation that it is a betting operator rather than a lottery organiser, which is the most important disclosure it makes.

Review Summary

Three stars, and the score is a judgement about this site as a casino rather than as a lottery service.

As a place to bet on the world's lotteries it is one of the best there is: the range of draws is unmatched by anything on a British high street, the £5 minimum deposit is low, and the structure is explained honestly rather than disguised.

As a casino it is ordinary. The slots lobby is a sideline, the welcome offer does not publish its spin value, and a £20 stake requirement is twice what most sites ask. The 30 day expiry on the spins is the best thing about it.

Join it for the lotteries. If you want a casino, this is not the first place I would send you.
