23/10/24 - Brand Closure

On 23/10/24, out of the blue, we received an email from Viral Interactive Limited (the brand operator) informing us of the immediate closure of a number of brands. An extract from the email reads, '(the operator) has decided to cease the operation of the following websites:  www.jammymonkey.com, www.luck.com, www.madslots.com, www.mfortune.co.uk and  www.pocketwin.co.uk.' Further communicating the same message, the  following note now appears on all of the websites mentioned above: 'This website will be closing on Nov 21st 2024. Starting from Oct 24th 2024, registrations and deposits on (Madslots/Jammy Monkey/Luck/Mfortune/PocketWin) are closed. Note that you are still able to withdraw any Cash Credit by following the standard withdrawal procedure.' Whilst we don't know the specific reasons behind the closure, it comes at a time when the UK market is becoming an increasingly difficult place to remain profitable for licensed operators. We get the impression this is in part due to: -Regulation:  the implementation of various new rules. Most recently the new limits on maximum wagers on slot games (September 2024). -Future regulatory/budgetary uncertainty: there are potential forthcoming changes which may come in to play as a result of the 2023 White Paper. In addition to this there are concerns that additional may be announced in the budget, which would target the gambling industry. -Competition from the black market: these are sites which do not have a license to operate from the UK Regulator. For the moment, such brands seem to be effective in their (illegal) targeting and recruiting of UK players.

I have a soft spot for InTouch Games casinos. In the past, I have praised casinos like Cashmo for their originality and innovation but have refrained from giving perfect scores due to their limited gaming selection. Where mFortune is concerned, it has all of the benefits that these other sites have but also avoids making many of the same mistakes. I don’t like the theme and think it looks very dated, but it has been around long enough to have accumulated more games than its sister sites. It also has a loyalty scheme that feels more fleshed out. Sure, it could be better and it would be nice to see several hundred games instead of several dozen but considering the amount of work that goes into making these slots, and the fact they’re all original, I think mFortune’s current selection is more than enough.

Contact the operator about it. The licensed company behind mFortune was Viral Interactive Limited, account 42739 on the Gambling Commission register, and that company still exists even though this site has gone.

Put the request in writing and keep a copy. A balance at a closed site is still your money.

If nobody responds, a licensee has to return customer funds, and a complaint can be escalated to the alternative dispute resolution provider named in the operator's terms.
