Love Hearts Bingo

Love Hearts Bingo is named after a sweet nobody buys on purpose, which is a brave place to start. The theme is carried through in pastel pinks and a layout that has not changed much in years, and the site is smaller and plainer than the newspaper and radio brands it competes with.

It is run by Broadway Gaming Ireland DF Limited, licensed by the Gambling Commission under account number 58267. That is the same operator behind several other small British bingo brands, which is why the room structure and the loyalty scheme will look familiar if you have played on one of its sister sites.

The interesting thing here is not the welcome offer. It is the jackpot structure behind it, which is larger than a site this size would suggest.

Welcome offer

The terms, as the site states them: new players only, minimum deposit and wager of £10 on the same day, for 20 free spins. Each spin is worth 25p, so £5 of play. Winnings are capped at £5 and paid to cash, and the spins expire after five days.

Take that apart, because the good and the bad are sitting right next to each other.

The good: paid to cash. No wagering requirement, no bonus balance, no turnover before it is yours. On the things this site judges sites on, that is the single most valuable form a free spin offer can take, and plenty of larger brands do not offer it.

The good again: 25p a spin. The usual value on a British free spin is 10p, and several sites run them at 5p. A 25p spin is two and a half times the normal size, which means the spins reach bonus features and bigger wins more often than a 10p spin does.

The bad, and it undoes most of that: the £5 win cap. Twenty spins at 25p is £5 of play, and the most you can win from it is £5. A cap set at exactly the value of the stake means the offer cannot, by design, do better than double your money in the best case, and the generous spin value stops mattering the moment a feature pays more than £5.

There is also the deposit and wager on the same day condition. You cannot deposit on Monday and stake on Tuesday. It is a small thing that costs people the offer.

Promotions and the loyalty scheme

The welcome is the smallest thing on offer here, and the loyalty scheme is the largest.

The Ace Club is a tiered programme that increases what you get as you move up. At the entry level it is deliberately thin: a single free spin and a game ticket, with the win cap on that spin set at 10p. Climb to the top tier and it pays 20 free spins with a £1 win cap, 3% cashback and 110 bingo tickets.

We have described that progression plainly rather than enthusiastically because the shape of it is the point. The rewards at the bottom are close to nothing, and the ones at the top are worth having. A scheme built that way is asking for a lot of play before it pays, and whether it is worth it depends entirely on how much you were going to play anyway.

Beyond the Ace Club the site runs regular loyalty offers paying bingo tickets, free spins and cash.

Bingo rooms and jackpots

This is where the site is better than it looks.

The Top of The Shop room carries a progressive jackpot the site advertises as reaching up to £20,000, with a figure of £15,000 used as its worked example. Alongside it there are 90-ball games with guaranteed jackpots and Mystery Jackpot games paying between £10 and £500.

There is free bingo for members, and some of those rooms are advertised with pots up to £1,000. Free bingo with a four-figure prize is an unusual combination and the most persuasive thing on the site.

Paid tickets start at 1p. Chat hosts run the rooms, which on a site this size is the difference between a room feeling busy and feeling empty.

Slots

The slot library sits alongside the bingo rather than dominating it, and the progressive jackpots attached to it are advertised as going as high as £500,000.

Worth reading that figure the way it should be read: a network progressive of that size is shared across many sites, and the jackpot is a property of the game rather than of this site. It is real, and your chance of it is the same here as anywhere else running the same title.

Depositing and withdrawing

The qualifying deposit is £10. The site supports the usual British methods, and the review this replaced recorded email, live chat and phone support, with phone support being genuinely uncommon on a bingo site this small.

The long-standing complaint against this operator, recorded in our own earlier review and in the pros and cons we carried for years, is withdrawal speed. We have not been able to verify a current payout time from the operator's own published pages, so we are not going to put a number on it. Treat it as the thing to test with a small first withdrawal rather than a large one.

Who it suits

Someone who wants cheap bingo with a real progressive behind it, who will use the free bingo rooms, and who is joining for the rooms rather than the welcome offer.

It suits you less if you are shopping on the welcome, because £5 is the ceiling, or if the loyalty scheme's lower tiers are all you are ever going to reach.

Playing safely

A tiered loyalty scheme rewards volume of play. That is what it is for, and it is worth recognising before you start climbing it rather than afterwards.

Every licensed British site provides deposit limits, loss limits, time-outs and self-exclusion, and you can set them when you register rather than after something has gone wrong. If gambling has stopped being entertainment, GamCare runs a free confidential helpline on 0808 8020 133, and GAMSTOP will exclude you from every licensed British site at once.

Love Hearts Bingo review summary

Three out of five, unchanged. The bingo is the reason to be here: 1p tickets, free rooms for members with pots advertised up to £1,000, a progressive reaching £20,000 in Top of The Shop, and chat hosts keeping the rooms alive on a site small enough to need them.

It stays at three because of the things around the bingo. The welcome offer is generous in shape and mean in size: 25p spins paid straight to cash, which is the right way to do it, then a £5 win cap that stops the offer being worth more than the £5 of play it gives you. The Ace Club pays almost nothing until you have climbed most of it. The design is dated. And the withdrawal speed that has been the long-standing complaint against this operator is not something we can currently verify either way, which is its own kind of answer.
